The Aquarium requires many complicated life support systems in order to keep all of the animals happy and healthy in their exhibits. This tour is great for anyone (kids and adults) interested in the technical aspects of aquarium keeping, as well as those who are just curious about how everything works!
Learn what it is to be a marine biologist or zoologist as you join us for morning rounds. Great for kids wanting to explore careers in biology. Up to 15 guest help some of our aquarists as they care for our fish, reptiles and invertebrates. Cost is $29.95 per participant. Please fill out a reservation request form to reserve your spot.
Connect with this animal, while you touch it, play with it, and provide it puzzles and toys to interact with. Encounters last approximately 20 minutes, and pictures are encouraged!
What’s the difference between an Octopus Encounter and the Octopus Daily Talk? At the Talk, you don’t get to interact with our Giant Pacific Octopus, “Triton”. Instead, you just learn about Octopus in front of Triton’s display tank. An Encounter is a must-have add-on to a Daily Talk.
Customers have raved at our Portland Aquarium about this experience: “Wow, I didn’t know octopus were this friendly”,“Its suction cups are so much stronger than I anticipated”, and “I always thought these things were dangerous”.
After everyone has gone home and the aquarium has closed its doors for the night, we invite you to join us for an exciting night of exploration. Discover the Portland Aquarium after hours and sleep beside one of our exhibits. The aquarium offers sleepovers for families, youth groups and adults.
